Budget 2014
Minister Flaherty has just presented Budget 2014, and it is clear we are on target to balance the budget in 2015. While we are focused on getting back to balance, the budget did contain important measures to promote jobs, growth, and long-term prosperity in Edmonton, Alberta and Canada.
Here are just a few of the items I want to highlight for you:
- Back to Balance – The federal budget is well on its way to being balanced, with the deficit this year at $2.9 billion, and a surplus of $6.4 billion in 2015;
- Creating the Canada Apprentice Loan – Helping apprentices registered in Red Seal trades complete their training by providing access to over $100 million in interest-free loans each year; and,
- Helping Canadians with Disabilities – Providing $222 million to create new Labour Market Agreements for Persons with disabilities to better help Canadians with disabilities get the skills they need to fill available jobs.
You can find additional details about the Budget at actionplan.gc.ca but I would like to hear your thoughts.
Do you think Budget 2014 keeps Canada on the right track?
