For the folks who understand and agree with the intent of C-593 and have sent me positive responses, I thank you. For the folks who have raised questions, some very forcefully, I am not ignoring you. I have answered a few and will do a larger overall response later this week.
The bill was tabled last Wednesday. Thursday turned out to be a very bad and unproductive day with the untimely passing of Jim Flaherty. Friday, I flew to Kelowna for events in Kamloops and a couple of days with grandson and family. Monday, I flew back to Edmonton and today I am off to Toronto for Jim Flaherty’s state funeral tomorrow.
The bill will not be on the Order Paper for some time yet, and we’ll have lots of time to discuss it, hopefully in a rational manner. My response to Karl Gotthardt stands and I appreciate him sharing it.
